Myths to debunk: niches and passions

To earn online, do we really have to choose a market niche linked to our passions? By now there is no blog on online earnings that does not repeat the sentence to pappardella: if you want to make money with the Internet, choose a market niche linked to your passions. Well, this is a real myth to debunk. Today I decided to inaugurate a series of posts entitled “myths to debunk”. Follow me.

The legend was probably born in the States, since even there many people continue to repeat the mantra: “do what you like and the money will come on their own”. This happens because obviously also in the USA (the home of online earnings) there are newbies. In reality, things are different. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that if you have an unbridled passion for motorcycles, if you take them apart and put them back on your own, if you know how to change them, this can’t be monetized. Quite the contrary: if you have a similar passion, I absolutely suggest you open a blog. The money will arrive almostautomatically. Note the bold applied to the word “almost”. Yes, because if you don’t know how to make your passions profitable, in reality the money will hardly come by itself(and here we return to the subject of training and courses). But the point is another: people who really make money online, work within market niches of which they know absolutely nothing. Other than passions! I repeat it? But yes, so much is free: people who make money seriously with infoproducts and affiliations have no passion for the products they sell . Oooh! I finally said it!

But let’s talk about concrete things. Go to the Clickbank website . Done? Well, now click on “Marketplace” (you will find the link at the top of the page). Now take a look at the product categories on your left: arts and entertainment, betting, business and investment, computers and the Internet, cooking, food and wine, ecological products, etc. There is everything. Some people unaccustomed to serious earnings might think: well, there is something for everyone, just find a suitable category for my passions. WRONG ! Here is the demonstration:

Go to the Clickbank Analytics website(there are dozens and dozens of sites and tools similar to this one) and click on “Top products”. You will be able to see which are the best selling products in the world. Well, what do we find in the first three places? A nice software to create traffic. Now, you understand to me, do you think all those affiliates who sell (and therefore earn) that product are people passionate about … web traffic? In seventh place there is a guide to get back into the good graces of your ex-boyfriend (think yourself). In eighth place there is a product to get incredible abdominals. In ninth place, with a sizeable gravity score of 353.521 (gravity is a number that indicates how many affiliates have earned a commission in the last 12 weeks), we find a weight loss program. You know, the world is full of people “passionate” about weight loss or abdominals … But please! These are some of the products that sell more and therefore make more money. The passions, as you can see, have nothing to do with a dried fig. The people who earn the most are those who promote weight loss products, quit smoking, keep their hair, fight pimples and so on. What kind of passion can there be for pimples? Here, now I have just opened the Pandora’s box to you. But just a little. Just to make you understand how false the myth of profit with niches is … of passion. But perhaps passion means suffering … a real cross, away. : D a dried fig has nothing to do with it. : D Just to make you understand how false the myth of profit with niches is … of passion. But perhaps passion means suffering … a real cross, away. : D Just to make you understand how false the myth of profit with niches is … of passion. But perhaps passion means suffering … a real cross, away. : D

I know a person who is making a lot of money (not in Italy of course) in the niche linked to musical instruments. Well, you won’t believe it, but this person doesn’t play any instrument, he has no experience in this regard and no knowledge about the products he sells. Some might object: but this is not credible, how does he make money? The answer is simple: credibility is essential if you offer professional advice, advice, answers to questions, guides, courses. But most affiliate niches have nothing to do with these things. Within those niches, what matters is marketing. Create ad hoc pages, bring qualified traffic and know how to better manage them. This is what counts. At this point some clarifications are necessary:

  • Clickbank is the world’s largest digital product market.
  • Earnings online is not synonymous with affiliations, but little is missing.
  • There are entire sites and information to learn about Clickbank. There is a real science about product selection (mind you I did not say market niche) that sells more. Nothing to do with passions.
  • In Italy many refer to affiliations as things like Clickpoint, Tradedoubler and similar agencies, whose earnings are nothing short of ridiculous. We are light years away from the rest of the world, believe me.
  • Not everyone has a passion.
  • Not all passions are profitable.
  • Even if you don’t have a passion on a specific topic, there are methods and systems to find content to publish.

The affiliations – the real ones – represent one of the drivers of online earnings. Don’t have a product to sell? Affiliate with other people’s products (not the ones you like but the ones you sell). Do you have a product to sell? Very well, sell it also through affiliations. If you propose it to your list of 3,000 people, make an X number of sales. But if you propose it to other marketers (each of which has its own list with thousands of people) how much will you increase your sales? That’s why all marketers are friends with each other. In online earnings there are no competitors but collaborators. Welcome to the world of joint ventures. Eh, how many things there is to know about the online earning world, right? Other than earning money with a blog and two ads with AdSense or Spintrade.
